Terms of use

The ground rules

The Mixer: Connecting Senior Care Professionals ("The Mixer", "we") is a networking community run by its organizers, Miki Bellon and Dale Corpus. These terms apply to everyone who uses this website, and by using it, joining or posting, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. Last updated October 1, 2026.

A listing is not a recommendation

The directory is a way for people to find each other. Organizers look over each listing before it goes live to keep the directory on topic, but they do not check licenses, certifications, insurance, background, qualifications, reviews or the quality of anyone's work. Being listed, sponsoring, hosting, posting on the board or attending a Mixer is not an endorsement, recommendation or guarantee by The Mixer or its organizers.

Before you hire someone, refer a family or sign anything, check them yourself: ask for their license, insurance and references, and look them up with the state agency that licenses their work. Any agreement, service or payment between you and a member is only between you and that member.

Nothing here is professional advice

Members share experience and ideas on this site and at Mixers. None of it is medical, legal, financial, tax, insurance or care advice for your situation. For that, talk to a qualified professional who knows the details. In an emergency, call 911.

Who can join

You must be 18 or older to use this site. Membership is for people who work with or for older adults and their families, and for people building services and tools for them. Organizers decide whether a listing fits and can decline or remove one that does not. You agree that what you tell us about yourself and your business is true, and you will keep it up to date.

Your sign-in

You sign in through your email or your Google account, so keep those secure. You are responsible for what happens under your sign-in. If you think someone else has used it, tell us through the contact form.

Your listing and your posts are yours

You keep ownership of what you put on the site: your listing, photos, logo, videos, posts and replies. By adding them, you give The Mixer a free, non-exclusive permission to show, store and format them on this website, and to show your name, business and listing photo when sharing that page, for as long as they are on the site. Ideas and suggestions you send us can be used without any obligation to you.

Only add things you have the right to share. Do not upload anyone else's photo, logo or work without their permission, and do not post anything false, misleading or unlawful.

Things you may not do

Community guidelines

These apply to the community board and to how members treat each other:

Breaking these guidelines can get a post removed, and can lead to a suspension, removal from the community, or a permanent ban. The organizers decide.

Referrals between members

The Mixer exists to help members meet. It does not arrange, track or take a share of referrals between members. If you refer clients or receive referrals, you are responsible for following every law that applies to you, including licensing rules and the rules on referral fees and kickbacks in health care and senior placement.

What organizers can do

To keep the community useful and safe, organizers can edit or hide posts, decline or remove listings, and suspend or ban members, without notice when needed. They do not have to review everything posted and are not responsible for checking it. They can also change, pause or end any part of the website.

Leaving

You can leave at any time by asking us through the contact form to remove your listing and account. Say whether you also want your board posts and replies removed, and we will remove them.

Reporting a problem or a copyright claim

If something on the site is wrong, harmful or uses your work without permission, tell us through the contact form. Say what it is, where it is, and why it should come down. We will look at it and remove it when it should not be here.

Member Plus

Membership is free. Member Plus is an optional paid plan with extra profile features, described on the membership page. To get it, you apply from your account page and an organizer approves the application before you can pay.

Events

Mixers are held at host communities and venues, and their own rules apply while you are there. RSVPs usually go through Luma, which has its own terms. Photos and video may be taken at Mixers; see the privacy page to have one taken down.

Other websites

Listings and posts link to members' own websites, to Luma and to other services. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.

No promises, and limits on responsibility

Membership is free, and the website is offered as it is. We work to keep it accurate and running, but we do not promise it will always be available, error free, secure or up to date, or that any member will be suitable for you.

As far as the law allows, The Mixer, its organizers, hosts and sponsors are not responsible for what members post, for anything a member does or fails to do, for dealings between members, or for any indirect or consequential loss from using the site. Nothing here limits responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit.

If you break these terms or the law, and someone makes a claim against The Mixer or its organizers because of it, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that result.

California law

These terms are governed by the laws of California. Any dispute about them or the website will be handled in the courts of Santa Clara County, California, unless the law says otherwise. If one part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part right away, we can still enforce it later.

Changes and questions

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and for a big change we will also say so on the site or by email. Using the site after a change means you accept it. Questions go to the organizers through the contact form. How we handle your information is on the privacy page.
